18. Juli: Interstellar (Garching, english)

In the not-too-distant future, food will become scarce on Earth. The few people still alive are concentrating on agriculture, but pests and dust storms make this is almost impossible.

The best chance for survival seems to be an effort to leave Earth and find a new habitable planet. This dream comes within reach when a wormhole is discovered not far from Saturn. At the other end is a planetary system in the vicinity of a black hole.

Former NASA astronaut Cooper is sent through the wormhole in a spaceship to investigate the nature of the planets there. When he sets off, it is still unclear whether it is even possible to evacuate people from Earth. So, he doesn't know whether he will ever see his family again – but his mission is the only hope for humanity's survival.
