A political thriller about undiscoverable weapons of mass destruction, that deftly combines fiction and actual events of 2003 Iraq War
Bagdad, March 2003: In the Iraqi capital Chief Warrant Officer Roy Miller and his squad are risking their lives each day in the attempt to find Saddam Hussein’s weapons of mass destruction.
His search of an old warehouse, an alleged weapon stash, once again leaves Miller empty-handed. This being the third unsuccessful investigation, Miller confronts his superiors with his suspicion that the information he is receiving from secret service might be intentionally false, but his idea is quickly dismissed. Miller then approaches the hard-nosed CIA officer Martin Brown who informs him, that the next hint he will be receiving from his anonymous secret service contact won’t lead to any weapons of mass destruction either.
Brown and Miller then try to find out why and by whom they are being misled, but their search is intercepted by a man named Poundstone, a high-ranking Pentagon special intelligence officer, before they can find out the truth.
Bourne goes epic. A wham-bam actioner, but its pointed political subtext ensures Damon and Greengrass deliver their most provocative mission yet. (empireonline.com)
