The South African government has a problem with criminality, especially in its largest city Johannesburg. So when they were offered the newest super weapon by weapons manufacturer Tetravaal – a combat robot fit for police work – they could
Deon Wilson, the developer of the robots and their software, already started another, bigger project – developing real artificial intelligence. He finally manages to create A.I. but his boss Michelle Bradley, thoroughly the weapons manufacturer, will not have anything that cannot be used as a weapon right away. But Deon cannot give up so easily, takes the remains of a heavily damaged police bot and wants to get him to his home. His world turns upside down when the criminals Ninja, Yo-Landi and Amerika capture him for their dream of an evil unstoppable gangster robot.
This iRobot odyssey gets enough brain power and battery energy out of its central-processing idea to make for a rollicking, thought-rousing ride. The story's pursuit of questions about evolving consciousness and struggling conscience is a real rush. (Vue Weekly)
