Zum Trailer Regie: Chris Buck, Jennifer Lee 102 Minuten |
What a beautiful summer in the nice small kingdom of Arendelle, where the little princesses Elsa and Anna live with their parents in peace and harmony. Everything appears to be normal, like in any other kingdom … except for little Elsa’s power to freeze everything she touches. After she accidentally hurt her little sister while playing one day she locks herself away, in fear that next time she could kill her. Only after many years, and after the death of their parents, she ends her isolation to celebrate her 21st birthday and her coronation. Anna manages to fall in love and agrees to marry the first guy she finds, but Elsa won’t give her blessing to the marriage and in anger demonstrates her power to everybody. Shocked by what she has done, Elsa flees to the mountains and unintentionally releases a snowstorm that casts an eternal winter over the kingdom of Arendelle. Now Anna must find a way to save her home and bring back her beloved sister.
“Frozen” has both showtunes and darkness, but most satisfying is a formula-defying finale that successfully subverts the fairytale status quo. (Time Out)

MaleficentUSA/UK (2014) |
|
Zum Trailer Regie: Robert Stromberg Schauspieler: Angelina Jolie, Elle Fanning, Sharlto Copley 97 Minuten |
Fairytales, what wonderful stories of heroism and bravery. But what if they have been told wrong? What if the histories our parents told us were not all? What is the truth? How could such a beautiful, peaceloving fairy like Maleficent turn into what we heard of her? Could it be the powerhungry warmongering humans with their armies coming to her home in the moors, trying to burn and ravage her friends? Or was she perhaps betrayed by king Stefan, provoking her anger against him and his newborn daughter Aurora? What has happened to her to bestow such a terrible curse upon an innocent child? And last but not least an even more important question, if there are so many things we don’t know, could they have even altered how it really ended?
“Maleficent” remains surprisingly faithful to the original while recreating the title character. You only think you know the story (but this one – in many ways – is so much better). (moviecrypt.com)
