The Schedule for the Wintersemester 2018/19 is here!

Finally, the time has come: The schedule for the upcoming wintersemester 2018/19 is available. As always a broad selection of thrilling, touching and unconventional cinematic highlights are waiting for you.

This semester's warm-up-feature on the last Thursday before lectures start (11th of October 2018) will revolve around the early years of Han Solo and his furry friend Chewbakka: "Solo: A Star Wars Story" (German).

The actual semester kickoff-movie will take place five days later, on the first Thursday after lectures have started. "Deadpool 2" (German), the sequel with a comedic touch to Marvel's Blockbuster revolving around former Special-Forces Agent Wade Wilson, who received supernatural powers after being injected with mutating substances under the cover of a novel cancer treatment and is since hunting down criminals.

After the action packed kickoff the mood gets a bit more serious with the third movie: In "Darkest Hour" (English) you can submerge yourself in the political landscape of Great Britain during the second world war, experience Curchil's early years as prime minister and gain insights into his role during the war. To further add to the authenticity of the scenery we will of course use the movie's original English soundtrack.

Not too long after, at the beginning of November, we've got another lingual highlight for you. This time in German, but with Josef Hader's unmistakably Austrian accent. In his latest movie "Arthur & Claire" (German) he takes the role of the incurably ill Arthur, who travels to the Netherlands to make use of legal Euthanasia to end his life. When he meets young Claire, who appears to have lost everything and thus has similar plans, a touching story about the search for happiness at the end of one's life begins.

How to deal with suicide and the search for happiness also plays an important role in the next movie, "Vielleicht lieber morgen" (German), which we screen as part of this year's week of mental health (TUM4mind). In this movie you can meet the teenager Charlie, who already struggles to make friends and feels even lonelier since his best friend committed suicide, and join him on his quest to restore his sense of social belonging and to overcome his traumas and anxieties.

This semester's musical highlight awaits you on the evening of the 22nd of November. Fo the second time we have the pleasure to welcome the pianist Russel Russinhoff, who will bring the russian 1925 silent film "Panzerkreuzer Potemkin" (German Text) to life with his own compositions.

Everyone who was left speechless by the silent film concert can compensate the lack of spoken language on the following Tuesday with a double dose of action and entertainment: Quentin Tarentino's classic double feature "Kill Bill Vol. 1 + Vol. 2" (English) promises four and a half hours full of thrilling chases and violent confrontations.

Although the movie itself might not be as action packed as Kill Bill, our traditional christmas special "Die Feuerzangenbowle" (German) promises a whole lot of real life action. With mulled wine, gingerbread and blueberry wine you can experience the cult film on three days (11th, 12th and 13th of December) quite unlike anywhere else. This year's big FZB ticket sale will take place on the 13th of November. But behold: There's only a limited number of tickets available - and experience tells us that they will sell out quickly. So don't be late!

At the end of the semester you have the chance to laugh uncontrollably one more time at Bully Herbig's Comedy Classic "Der Schuh des Manitu" (German). The popular Karl May parody full of humor, both with and without niveau, provides the perfect material to simply enjoy yourself once more, before the end term exams start.

The selection presented here doesn't resonate with you? Don't worry: there's more! As always we will show a movie every Tuesday and every second Thursday during the semester. In total we prepared 22 different movies on 24 different dates for you. You can find our complete program under tu-film.de/programm. So step by some time. Theres something that suits you for sure!
