Classmates Carmen Ibanez, Johnny Rico, Carl Jenkins and Dizzy Flores have ambitious plans after high school. Military service in the Federation is the only way to achieve the status of a recognized citizen in a society marked by war against the Arachnoids.
Although they pursue very different military careers and are sometimes pushed to their limits and beyond by the rigors of training, the intergalactic war remains the brutal driving factor behind everything the cadets do. After the Bugs hurl an asteroid at Earth which destroys Buenos Aires, the logical consequence in the form of a devastating military counterattack is of course unavoidable. The question remaining is whether there can be a winner in this war?
A jaw-dropping experience, so rigorously one-dimensional and free from even the pretense of intelligence it's hard not to be astonished and even mesmerized by what is on the screen. (Kenneth Turan, Los Angeles Times)
