San Fernando Valley, California, 1973: Alana Kane is in her mid-twenties and works as a photographer’s assistant. Gary Valentine, on the other hand, is a teenager and needs to get to New York City for a career-defining show – after all, Gary is a young entrepreneur and actor! The only problem: he needs an adult supervisor for the trip and his mother is indisposed. But that’s where Alana comes in handy: the 25-year-old is the perfect candidate for the job! It’s a joy, and the sort of film that like a great LP -- it’s named after a Californian record store -- you’ll want to play over and over. (Uncut Magazine [UK]) |
