A giant Michelin marshmallow

Hiro is a small hero. He lives in the famous city of San Fransokyo. Despite being only 14 years old he is already a robotics genius: among his inventions are the so-called Microbots, tiny robots that are able to link together in any arrangement imaginable.

Hiro has an unusual companion: Baymax – a healthcare robot who looks like a giant inflated marshmallow and is extremely lovable.

Suddenly, however, things don’t look too good for Hiro: at first, Tadashi, his brother, dies in a fire. Then, his invention is stolen by a villain. When he tries to investigate, he finds himself attacked by an army of Microbots. Also, the big puffy robot who sometimes can be very clumsy, will hardly be of any help when it comes to fighting the bad guy.

So Hiro equips Baymax with armor and a battle chip that contains various Karate moves. They team up with four of Tadashi’s mates: GoGo, Wasabi, Honey and Fred. Their plan: finding the thief and stopping whatever wicked plans he has in mind.

Directors Don Hall and Chris Williams find new angles on the required action beats, playing up the human relationships and having fun with Baymax’s logical, single-minded nature. (NOW Toronto)

Baymax is one of those characters who can basically do no wrong. Every sequence he’s part of is automatically funnier just because he’s onscreen. (HitFix)
