Can you handle the heat?

Chicago, winter of 1929. When two musicians are witness to a Valentine’s Day massacre, they want to leave town as soon as possible to have nothing to do with Spats Colombo, the gangster responsible.

Slick talking, smooth moving, womanizing Joe, and his roommate and friend, the slightly more pessimistic Jerry, look for a way to disappear. As saxophone and bass players, they look for a gig outside of Chicago; however the only job they can find is in an all-girl band heading to Florida.

They don’t let this stop them and Joe and Jerry soon become Josephine and Daphne. While Joe focuses his attention on the lead singer of the band Sugar, Jerry is pursued by a millionaire who won’t take “no” for an answer. Things heat up as the two struggle to maintain their cover and the mobsters close in.

Pictures like this, with a sense of humor that is as broad as it can be sophisticated, come along only infrequently. (Variety)
